I’m a reader. Always have been. Always will be.
It’s pretty common that I have two books going at once…and maybe an audiobook as well just for good measure.
If there is one thing I love more than laying at the pool, coated in sunscreen and smelling of chlorine, it’s curling up in the corner of the couch under a blanket, coffee in hand with a thick hard cover book fresh off the library shelves while the temps dip low and the days grow short.
Oh and the crinklier the dust jacket the better 🙂

Little Fires Everywhere – Celeste Ng

Little Fires Everywhere follows the story of 2 families, one established and wealthy, the other transient and bohemian, thrown together in ways neither was expecting with outcomes equally surprising . You will be totally consumed by this.
Love Warrior – Glennon Doyle
I discovered Glennon years ago when she was just a simple mommy blogger and I fell deeply in love. Glennon speaks to life, love, hurt, heartache, addiction, vulnerability and the strength of the human spirit to rise again in a candid, stripped down way. Her no nonsense approach to self improvement and, in turn, the paying it forward will leave you all filled up…in so many ways.
This Will Only Hurt A Little – Busy Phillips
Need to laugh, cry, shake your head and cheer for the underdog all in one book? Here ya go! Busy Philipps’ autobiography is charming, honest and chock full of opportunities to like her even that much more.
I listened to the audiobook version and would highly recommend you do the same. Hearing her story in her voice; the outrage, excitement, tears and tender moments, made this all the more enjoyable.
Dollbaby – Laura Lane McNeal
Books that have the power to transport always rank high on my list. Dollbaby does just that. Set in the mid century South, this quick and consuming read follows the story of a tight knit group of women, their stories intertwined by love and loss and secrets. You will fall in love with the cast of characters as well as the authors ability to evoke a feeling a Southern charm, grit and angst.
The Keepsake – Tess Gerritsen
Tess Gerritsen is my favorite crime/mystery writer and I have loved each of her books. Her Rizzoli and Isles series was turned into a series for TNT and if we’re being honest? The books are SO much better. Gerritsen writes a fast paced, super smart, all consuming mystery story and The Keepsake is one of my favorites. A mummy is discovered in the basement of museum, but it’s no ancient artifact!
You’ll finish this one and want to dive right into another Tess Gerritsen mystery. I promise.
Before We Were Yours – Lisa Wingate
Oh this books was just about everything…a deeply engaging story, visual imagery to immerse you and a backstory based on real events.
Before We Were Yours follows the story of a group of young siblings on a journey through the dark side of the social service world in 1950s Tennessee. Lisa Wingate’s ability to tell a story based on true events while also giving life to a host of deeply lovable characters makes this one an absolute must read.
