I’ve been asked that questions so many times since I pulled the trigger and signed up. To be clear, a full marathon is 26.2 miles….that’s 42.2 kilometers, 22.7 nautical miles, 138,435 feet. To be even clearer, it’s friggin’ far.
I am not a runner. Like historically, I do not run. I have always had these grand dreams of being one of those lean, toned runner ladies who casually throws on a pair of shoes, swigs a little water and heads out to effortlessly tick off multiple miles. I’m sure these ladies exists and I may be one of them in the far off future, but right now? today? I am just Katie…who runs a pretty decent pace for a 35 year old with one semi-bum knee and a lifetime of bad habits behind me.
I’m also pushing a stroller 3 out of the 4 days I run because I’m a stay at home mom, so I’m kinda always tired too. But to be fair, the more miles I log, the more I start to FEEL like that runner lady. She’s in there…she knows we have work to do, she thinks about October 8, 2017 and what it will be like standing in that corral, waiting for the gun to go off, knowing she’s trained hard for months and months in preparation for this day. She feels awesome. Me? I’m taking it one day at a time 🙂
