One of the superpowers of motherhood is that we are able to balance a whole lot in our day-to-day lives. We are able to wear lots of different hats, our skillset is varied and impressive – we really are the ultimate COOs. When you, the mom doing it all, decide to start a business, it’s like harnessing that superpower for something truly incredible. The entrepreneur mom is truly something to behold!
As moms, we simply know how to get things done. Usually, the skills needed to raise kids, run a house and build a life are very similar to those of any new business owner. And, just like in motherhood, entrepreneurship takes a village and can sometimes feel pretty darn lonely.
In motherhood they say it “takes a village”, well same goes for entrepreneurship.
Finding support and community might be one of the best things you can do for your business.
Let’s talk about it…
(And scroll down for a few clarity journal prompts)
Why Community For Entrepreneur Moms Matter…
Humans really aren’t meant to do anything alone.
We are pack animals at our most basic, but we have developed a culture that celebrates solo-ness. Being able to pull yourself up by the proverbial boot straps is great and all, but every one of us comes to a point where our bootstraps snap and we need some support.
For entrepreneur moms, the answer might just be found in community.
When you find a community of women who are in the same boat as you, pulling up the same bootstraps, it makes it all a bit easier to manage.
There are also huge professional and personal growth opportunities when you bring a community of entrepreneur moms together! This network can become a sounding board for ideas, a well of resources and solutions and, most importantly, a cheering squad for those times that you really just need to be held up and loved on a bit.
And let’s not forget the professional connections and networking that naturally happens within every great community!
In our everyday lives we turn to our friends and family for support, in business this may not be so readily available. This is another big reason why finding an entrepreneur community is so important – you all share a common set of unique challenges, needs and, in the end, victories!
The Unique Challenges For Entrepreneur Moms
Entrepreneurship by itself is a challenge.
Add to that the demands, responsibilities and challenges of motherhood and you have a very unique set of circumstances that only other entrepreneur moms can relate to.
For so many of us, myself included, the management of motherhood and running your own business comes down to a few major challenges.
- Time management
- Isolation & lack of work connection
- Guilt around splitting time and attention
- Lack of support
What have you found to be a big ‘ole challenge in balancing mom life and entrepreneur life?
Are you ready for some community support?
You will need different things and different points on your journey of entrepreneurship – and motherhood.
You may not feel ready to become part of a community, and that’s totally ok!
The best part of building a business, and raising kids, is doing it in a way that works best for you, your life and everyone’s needs.
Journal prompts for clarity…
- My greatest challenge right now in being an entrepreneur and a mom is?
- If I could find support right now around a piece of my business, it would be…

Spend a little time today and journal it out. Where are you in your life right now and what would you need from a community?
Being an entrepreneur mom is all at once insanely rewarding and intensely hard.
We are living lessons for our kids on how to set goals, work hard and overcome obstacles. We are showing our kids that if you can dream it, it can be possible!
And all of this is made just a bit easier when we do it together.
